 Computer security doesn’t have to cost money. Thanks to the open source community and a number of companies trying to grow their “anti-virus” reputation, there are several free anti-virus programs for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
Sure, some of these companies will try to “up-sell” you to their more full-featured products, but that doesn’t mean their freebies are a poor choice. While their effectiveness varies, the existence of free anti-virus software takes away any reason for not having anti-virus installed on your system.
