Joe's Security is a project born from the experiences and background of "Joe," a professional cyber-security engineer and consultant. Having successfully protected highly targeted computing infrastructures for may years, but seeing millions of everyday Internet users "getting owned" by hackers, the idea for JoesSecurity.com was born. It's mission is to help home computer users cut through poor or mis-information so to better understand the real risks associated with connecting computers to the Internet. Next is to provide some straight-forward techniques to elevate online safety. "Joe" is the first to admit that the only truely secure computer, is one that's turned off, unplugged and locked up. But where's the fun in that? So while nothing "Joe" can teach you can guarantee computer safety, the hope is that by you learning and applying a few cyber-security basics (that almost all corporate computer networks use), cyber "bad guys" will have a much harder time of getting into your computer.
